Printed magazines / books will be a thing of the past now. Introducing Woodwing tablet solution.

iOS is loved by many for a whole slew of reasons, but there’s one thing many users would like to have on their iOS device: Flash, something which Apple has refused to implement for years. While such a move has contributed to the transition to web standards away from proprietary plugins, many would still love to watch Flash video from within iOS. There’s now yet another way to go about it through a a new app known as Skyfire VideoQ. Wondering how it works? Read on.

Long-time iOS users have likely heard of Skyfire, an alternate browser for Apple’s operating system that among many things allows Flash video playback from right within the browser, without the actual Flash add-on. This is achieved by decoding the Flash content on Skyfire’s own servers and then streaming it back to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch in real time, effectively playing back much of the Flash content that’s available on the web rather effortlessly. Skyfire VideoQ is a completely separate application for those who want Flash playback without the need to install a whole different browser.

In order to play a file back through Skyfire VideoQ, users simply need to send a link to the desired video’s page from Safari or any other popular browser, by selecting the said link and choosing the “Mail Link to this Page” option, and send it over to video@skyfire.com. The desired video will then be converted on Skyfire’s servers and be available for playback on the VideoQ app within a few minutes. Videos from major sites can be played this way, including professional content sites such as Hulu, Comedy Central and more being constantly added every day.

VideoQ also includes a “Hot” section for popular videos, as well as several categories known as “channels” featuring videos geared towards a specific subject, such as technology, sports and humor.

In order to use Skyfire VideoQ, the user is first required to register with their e-mail address. The registration process itself is rather simple and takes no more than a few minutes. Some users might not feel comfortable with revealing their email addresses, but there’s nothing pointing to their illegitimate use on Skyfire’s part who are known for nothing more than developing really cool iOS apps.

Expect video playback to be of somewhat low-quality since all videos are converted rather quickly up on Skyfire’s services. Yet, low-quality playback is still better than no playback at all.

Download Skyfire VideoQ from the iOS App Store today for $1.99. Or get it free with installo.us

I accidentally upgraded to iOS 4.3.4 – intending to upgrade it to iOS 4.3.3 – however I was too late and click the upgrade button on iTunes. Sigh…

Knowing there is no turning back nor can I use Jailbreakme.com – I had to settle for redsnow for mac – 0.9.8b3. After jailbreaking my iPhone, I hated that it had to be rebooted using tethered boot. This means that I have to connect my iPhone to my Mac and launch redsnow, browse the ipsw and reboot. The thought of doing this everytime I need a reboot just sucks.

So knowing that I had a 4.3.3 shsh on my iPhone, I decided to downgrade but unsuccessful everytime. I could exit to recovery mode after I downgraded. The only way for me to get out of this recovery mode was to do a restore. 2 days back Apple upgraded its iOS to 4.3.5 -sigh.

I continued to download these in order to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 tethered boot :

1. iOS 4.3.4 (NOT iOS 4.3.5) ipsw file.

2. RedSnow 0.9.8b4

Follow the instructions after you have downloaded these files which can be searched and downloaded all over the internet, and wah lah, you have a tethered jailbroken iOS 4.3.5 iPhone 4

Good Luck!

My goodness

How time flies. Its past Chinese New Year and my body engine hasn’t even warmed up yet. It is still cold and it probably will stall if I move too fast.

Must see sights of Tokyo – Part 3

5. National Museum of Western Art Park, Ueno

A beautiful park within the city’s crazy crowd.

Restaurant within the park.

Peaceful entrance to the park.

Winter leaves. The winter here is so refreshing. Tokyo’s weather in December is around 11 degree Celsius during the day and will drop to approximately 4 degrees Celsius at night. The park was a great place to rest my tire legs.

Basically everything in the park centers around art and cultural museums.

Ice cream / snack shop.

6. Ginza

This is Ginza, high end shopping district.

Louis Vuitton anyone?

Chanel or Cartier?

Starbucks, Ginza

Huge Apple Store

Shopping Centre. Basically Ginza is a high end shopping district. For those who like shopping for designer brands then this is a must place to visit.

7. Tokyo Tower

Visiting Tokyo tower is like visiting the Eiffel Tower in Paris. This is the Tower to visit in Tokyo. I went there during the day but I heard that it is spectacular when it likes up at night. Perhaps those who hasnt been there and would like to visit Tokyo Tower should go there at night.

Guide book in English.

8. Imperial Palace, East Garden

The Imperial Palace, East Garden is the closest you will get to the imperial palace or what used to be the ancient imperial palace of Japan. The gardens were beautiful but they have opening and closing times (around 4:30 p.m.)

Entrance of the Imperial Palace, East Garden. You have to cross a bridge and a moat.

Ancient guard post. Protecting the castle.

The foundations of what used to be the imperial palace which was burnt down.

Late sakura blooming during winter.

Beautiful park surrounding the castle. I didnt have time to explore the whole place as it was almost closing time. But nevertheless it was an enjoyable walk around the gardens.

Japan has evolved so much into such a highly developed nations. A midst of all the development they have managed to maintain their richness in culture as it was probably thousands of years ago. This I got to respect them for this.

9. Shinjiku

Most would have seen Jackie Chan roam around the streets of Shinjiku in his movie. For me Shinjiku seems like the entertainment city. You could hear abundant of tourists around and shop keepers at shops greet you in Mandarin or even Bahasa Malaysia when asked where you are from.

Like in the movies, there are probably a lot of foreigners living or working here in Shinjiku. They look Japanese, they speak fluent Japanese but they are not Japanese.

A lot of charity organisations are also broadcasted here infront of the JR station. Some do it loudly in loud speakers, some like this monk do it silently.

Shinjiku practically comes alive when night fall.

Pachinko or slot machines.

You are able to walk on stretches of streets and there are lots of see or do or buy!

10. Tsukiji

Recently I read in the news that it was here at Tsukiji that they sold a blue fin tuna for over a million ringgit. Here is where all the action is.

Yes people this is where most of your sashimi are being auctioned and sent around the world. To really see the action you have to get up at least at 5 a.m. where the real auction is. But as of today the auction is off limits to tourist but you could still come in but please keep a distance and no flash on your cameras.

Tourists come here to see the action and also buy the freshest seafood or sashimi meal.

Tuna

Well that ends my top 10 must see sights of Tokyo. Dont be afraid to get lost and be where there. By being lost and asking around I got to see more than I should. Tokyo has been a memorable journey. Will look forward to exploring more of the world whenever I can.

Must see sights of Tokyo – Part 2

2. Senso-Ji, Asakusa – Tokyo’s famous temple and a must see sight when one is in Tokyo. Majority of the tourists are the Japanese probably from other prefectures but you could also see a small handful of us tourists here.

Lots of shops in this street to get your souvenirs.

At the entrance of the temple Senso-Ji

The famous huge lanterns.

Smokes brings luck. I managed to smoke myself. I think I will be lucky this year. :)

Sacred water. Drink only if you are thirsty.

Throw coins and say your parents. A blessed 2011 everyone!

3. Electronic Town, Akihabara

If you are looking for a camera, casio g-shock watched, nikon or canon lenses or merely are so into electronics and want to know what the future is going to be like, then Akihabara is a must-see.

Also if you are looking for the latest PS3 or that nintendo DS. Then come come. However most electronic items have different voltage compared to Malaysia so, most electronic home appliances you should not even consider.

4. Shibuya

I came to Shibuya to visit the world’s famous dog. Hachiko.

Hachikō (ハチ公?, November 10, 1923–March 8, 1935), known in Japanese as chūken Hachikō (忠犬ハチ公?, “faithful dog Hachikō” (‘hachi’ meaning ‘eight’, a number referring to the dog’s birth order in the litter, and ‘kō,’ meaning prince or duke)), was an Akita dog born on a farm near the city of Ōdate, Akita Prefecture,[1] remembered for his loyalty to his owner, even many years after his owner’s death.

Must see sights of Tokyo – Part 1

Here are the must see sights of Tokyo. Top of my list is :

1. Harajuku – If you so happen to be in Tokyo during the weekends, Harajuku is a must visit place. You have the Empress temple which is gorgeous and if you are there at the right time you could catch a glimpse of a traditional Japanese wedding. You also have the Harajuku street where Japanese teen fashion is, GAP is located right opposite the Harajuku JR station and the prices are cheaper than the GAP Malaysia. At Harajuku street, grab their famous crepe. Its just yummy. And the one that I went back for seconds were the kebabs sold by Turkish living in Tokyo.

Harajuku Station

Harajuku Teen Fashion

Takeshita Street, Harajuku

Teen Fashion. What’s with the tail? Dont ask me…

Must try their crepe.

Strawberry Cream Crepe – 380 YEN

Huge varieties.

Two prominent temples near Harajuku Station.

Streets are filled with people.

Meiji-jingu. In the grounds of Meiji-jingu is a beautiful garden created by Emperor Meiji as a gift to the Empress Shoken.

Entrance to the temple of Meiji-jingu

Japanese wedding

Make your new year’s wish. It is written in thousands of different languages and it costs YEN500. Hopefully the Gods can read English.

All dressed in Cosplay these girls pose of camera men and women – they are the most popular attractions in Harajuku.

Free hugs at the park. If only they were… umm.. better not say… Next within Harajuku is the Harajuku Park. The park is rather interesting. You get a lot of photographers doing their photoshoot with models, jazz players, guitarist, and us tourist wanting to capture our Kodak moment with puzzled looking models.

The parks here are really interesting. You could see people taking their dogs for a walk, playing football, frisbee, picnic or just merely dating. Everyone from all walks of life are here at Harajuku Park.

Beautiful santa girls here for a photo shoot but was swamped by tourists to have their pictures taken with these beautiful ladies.

Takoyaki, yakisoba and teamed pau all around  500 – 600 YEN.

Please do not ask me what they were doing. A group of look-a-like Grease guys and girls from the 70s were dancing at the entrance of the park.

Elvis is alive?

Harajuku was so good that I went back there twice. Harajuku has all of what Tokyo has to offer in one place. A must place to visit.

Haneda International Airport

Allow me to introduce Haneda International Airport. Used to be a domestic airport but it has expanded to an international airport to cater for the congestion at Narita.

Haneda International Airport

Most people will either land in Narita International Airport but this airport is just awesome. It isnt as great as the Changi Airport, Singapore nor the Hong Kong ones but it is definitely a unique airport to be in.

Haneda International Airport

View from the observatory of the airport. Just beautiful.

Haneda International Airport

State of the art toilet – so clean I could even sleep in this toilet.

Haneda International Airport

Everything is state of the art. Beautiful LED TVs – with clear instructions and announcements in Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese. This airport puts our KLIA into shame.

Shops to cater for the last minute shoppers – there are quite a number of shops and restaurants before the departure gate and after the immigration gate.

Haneda International Airport

Restaurants beautifully decorated. Spaces at restaurants are small so be prepared for quite a wait or queue during peak periods.

As expected. Food and service in Japan is always exceptional. The politeness of the staff and their service levels are something to admire.

Haneda International Airport

Of all the airports I have been to and have stayed some time in. Haneda International Airport has my highest rating for cleanliness, user friendliness, amenities and excellence.
